Re: Concerns altering channel name

Re: Problems altering channel name – OneDrive folder

Absolutely sounds like a flaw. The entire point of any object having an ID is that it’s immutable, unlike a name. Carrying out the underlying links using an ID is a no brainer.

Re: Concerns changing channel name – OneDrive folder

AFAIK the folder name is determined at the moment of the channel development, and the link in between the two is static.Hence the folder does not get immediately renamed and you can not rename it by hand without breaking the link, as you have currently discovered. If you absolutely desire a renamed folder

I hesitate that you need to erase the channel and recreate it with the best name.Re: Concerns altering channel name-OneDrive folder So the Channel name might be

unequal the Foldername in the Team SPO Site– over time. For consistency

reason this must be absolutely fixed by MS due to the fact that users will be trained that the channel name is equal the folder name i’ve performed another testcase: -publish an attachment through conversation– > file is saved in the SPO channel

folder-rename on SPO level the folder

— > MS Teams loses the relation to the folder( as> you have actually suggested currently )-if you DOWNLOAD the attachment from the conversation thread then this works (ideal click attachment)- if you choose”Open Online”by means of the cOnversation( right click attachment )you get an error It appears that some sort of relation still exists:)

Re: Concerns altering channel name- OneDrive folder I have the specific scenario and tried to change the folder name in SPO which broke Groups. I ended up renaming it back to restore performance

. Ideally you do not need to delete the channel and recreate

however it seems that may be the only way.Re: Issues altering channel name -OneDrive folder It appears that up until MSFT is able to repair the group to onedrive folder name link problem, the group name ought to not be editable( or at least trigger the user )before dedicating the

modification Re: Concerns altering channel name -OneDrive folder

Re: Problems changing channel name-OneDrive folder This is a bug that I knew from sneak peek and I expected to see fixed at GA. however I can see that this is not the case Re: Issues changing channel name-OneDrive folder Agree, Salvatore

… however I would expect that Teams application could manage this

… technically It must be possible Re: Concerns changing

channel name- OneDrive folder I think we’ll have to wait … Re: Concerns changing channel name -OneDrive

folder It is not just OneDrive, SharePoint names are sluggish to alter, if

ever. Attempt altering a Group name using OWA interface (… then Edit Group) and enjoy the length of time it takes to percolate through the

numerous systems. My race order is: OWA main page OWA folder

pane(more than simply a browser refresh cycle)Outlook

(but needs more kicking than a Send & Receive )Sharepoint

if ever OneDrive for Service Do not even get me going on the logo design icon … Re: Issues altering channel name- OneDrive folder For the folder associated, this does not work as the previous folder(use case is remedying a typo on the channel name )is re-created after a removal of that folder. However I make sure everybody already understands this. -last edited Re: Issues changing channel name-OneDrive folder AFAIK the folder name is identified at the moment of

relabel it manually without breaking the link, as you have already discovered. If you definitely want a relabelled folder I’m afraid that you should delete the channel and recreate it with the right name.I know this is reasonably speaking rather an old thread, however given that

this concern has not yet

been resolved, it is still relevant.I have actually simply discovered a much better workaround. Erase the folder connected

to the channel and then Groups will recreate a folder, using the existing Channel name.Rename the folder to some other name Erase the

folder still connected to the channel Open the Group channel files-Ms Group will recreate the folder utilizing the current name Copy your files over from the

previously relabelled folder (Step 1)Erase that folder Highlighted -last edited Re: Concerns altering channel name-

OneDrive folder Relabel the folder to some other name Delete the folder still linked to the channel Open the Group channel files -Ms Team will recreate

the folder using the existing name Copy your files over from the previously renamed folder(Step 1)Delete that folder I’m sorry – I was sure that I got that right, now when I

  1. rename the channel, even having deleted
  2. the associated folder, it recreates it with the initial name. I did experience it earlier, that having actually renamed a channel
  3. and erasing the folder, a new folder with the new name was created. I just don’t

remember the

specific sequence

of events that caused this behavior.Sorry!
