ABC Home entertainment president states the network has decided to cancel the ‘Roseanne’ reboot

(CNN) – ABC canceled its hit sitcom “Roseanne” on Tuesday after the show’s greatest star, Roseanne Barr, went on a racist Twitter rant.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and irregular with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” ABC stated. The cancellation comes simply months after the program premiered to substantial ratings.Barr had previously apologized and stated she was”now leaving Twitter. “Following Barr’s Twitter rant, among the show’s consulting producers, Wanda Sykes, said she’s done with the program. “I will not be returning to @RoseanneOnABC,” Sykes tweeted. And Sara Gilbert, who plays Barr’s child on the ABC sitcom, tweeted that Barr’s remarks are” abhorrent and do not show the beliefs of our cast and crew or anybody related to our show.” Gilbert added:”This is incredibly sad and tough for everyone, as we’ve created a show that our company believe in, take pride in, and that audiences like– one that is different and apart from the viewpoints and words of one cast member.”Barr is well-known for tweeting about pro-Trump conspiracy theories and other questionable subjects. This week she consistently attacked prominent Democrats.In among the tweets, she composed,”Muslim brotherhood & world of the apes had an infant=vj.”Barr was reacting to a comment about Valerie Jarrett, a top previous assistant to President Obama. She responded to CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski and said it was”a joke.”But Barr later on erased the tweet and tweeted an apology to Jarrett and”allAmericans.””I am really sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks,”Barr tweeted. “I need to have known much better. Forgive me– my joke was in to earth. Its finale, which aired last week, snatched approximately 10 million viewers.– ABC News (@ABC) May 29, 2018 I say sorry to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans.
